These are the red haverster ant mounds ( pogonomrymex barbatus) at my place.I have been encourging them for the last three years. they have three opening and cover about 3-4 thousand square feet. I am hoping they are bait to bring back the texas horned lizads ( Phrynosoma cornutum) we used have but were collateral damage in the war to control Imported Fire ants and were wiped out in the last 20 years.
