Taricha torosa var. torosa

This is a cute little booger.
There was one instance where my brother and I we hiking in the hills along the coast range of california. We came across a stock tank that the winter rains had busted down the earth dam and there was only a 30 or 40 feet pond in the middle but is was filled with thousands of these little things in some kind of a mating frenzy. You could reach in to the water and grab huge handfulls of these newts. The water had the consistancy of jello because all of the eggs. thousands of gallons of eggs. The woodstock of newts.
